Following the publication of the Official Gazette of Decree-Law No. 56 of 30 April 2021, all Italian residence permits (permesso di soggiorno) in expiry or expired from January 31, 2020- July 31, 2021 are to be further extended until July 31, 2021.
Holders of permesso di soggiorno with above mentioned circumstances can enter Italy with the expired permesso di soggiorno, or choose to request a reingresso (re-entry) visa to the Embassy of Italy. Persons who are travelling to Italy with transit in other Schengen countries will need to request a Reingresso visa.

Visa application for Reingresso can be submitted, by appointment only, through the Italy Visa Application Center – VFS Global, Jakarta.

· Persons travelling from the Countries in list C, D and E must present a negative (molecular or antigen) swab test taken within at least 48 hours before entering Italy. Effective from 19 April, there are several exceptions to this requirement: find out more here.

· Subject to an ad hoc circular by the Ministry of Health, the paper declaration form shall be replaced with the compilation a digital passenger location form.

· The period of self-isolation for persons entering Italy from the Countries in list D and E has been reduced to 10 days.

Extension of the validity of the Permesso di Soggiorno (Stay Permit)

It is hereby notified that The Government of Italy, with Law n. 159, 27 November 2020, has extended the validity of Permesso di soggiorno (Italian permit of stay) with expiry date between 31 January – 31 December 2020, until 30 April 2021. Holders of permesso di soggiorno with above mentioned circumstances can enter Italy with the expired permesso di soggiorno, or choose to request a reingresso (re-entry) visa to the Embassy of Italy. Persons who are travelling to Italy with transit in other Schengen countries will need to request a Reingresso visa.

Following the EU Regulation 2019/1155 regarding the new visa Codex, that has come in force since the 2nd February 2020, all visa applicants (including family members of Italian/EU nationals) are required to submit the visa applications through the outsourcing company PT VFS Global – Italy Visa Application Center, by appointment only (that can be obtained at www.vfsglobal.com/Italy/Indonesia) and not through the Visa Office of the Embassy of Italy anymore.

In this regards, we would also like to inform that the family members of Italian/EU citizen are exempted from visa fee payment and VFS Global service fee.
