General information

This is to inform that in reference to the decree of the Prime Minister of Italy dated 8 and 9 march 2020, foreigners who enter/stay in Italy will be subjected to the restriction measures contained in the said decree, which will take effect until 3 April 2020.

This Embassy would like to further inform that in the emergency situation related to the Covid-19, people holding a valid Schengen visa (issued between 1 February 2020 and 30 June 2020), who have so far been unable to use the visa , would have the possibility to change/extend the visa free of charge, without VFS’ service fees, under the following conditions:

1. The visa issued has not been used;

2. Holder of the visa is able to show that his/her trip has been rescheduled – and NOT cancelled – by providing supporting documents related to the new travel plan;

3. The extension of the visa can be requested at the latest 120 days after the date of issuance of the current visa through the Italy Visa Application Center – VFS Global;

4. The new date of travel, as per new Visa Codex, cannot exceed 180 days from the date of request of extension of the visa.

It is not possible, under any circumstances, to refund the visa fee already paid.
