Roberto Colaminè
Ambassador (Designate) of Italy in Jakarta
Born in Naples on April 10, 1963, he graduated in Law from the University of Naples in 1989 and joined the Diplomatic Service on March 4, 1991.
After an initial assignment at the Ministry’s Directorate General for Emigration and Social Affairs, in 1995 he was assigned as Consul of Italy in Adelaide, Australia.
In 1999 he was assigned as First Secretary at the Embassy of Italy in Brasilia, where he became Counselor for Emigration and Social Affairs in 2002.
In 2003 he returned to Rome to take up service as Chief of Staff to the Inspector General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In 2006 he was assigned as First Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Tunis, Tunisia.
In 2009 he was appointed Ambassador to Nigeria in Abuja, with accreditation also to Benin and to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
In 2014 he returned to Farnesina (headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to serve in the Directorate General for Development Cooperation as Head of the Africa Office. Since 2019, he has been Deputy Director General for Development Cooperation in charge of Bilateral Development Cooperation Policies and Emergency Interventions.
He has been appointed Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Indonesia as of 2025.
In 2009, the award “Officer of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy” was conferred on him.
